Ready to take ownership of an HR function and make a genuine impact?
Harper Recruitment Group is delighted to be in exclusive partnership with a growing, independent UK-wide environmental services disrupter. As part of the growth trajectory they are looking to recruit an experienced and proactive HR Manager to join the Senior Leadership Team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an HR professional who wants to take real ownership of the people function and play a key role in supporting an ambitious organisation through its next stage of growth.
This isn't a role where you'll simply be maintaining existing HR processes. You'll have the opportunity to build, improve and embed the HR function, working closely with senior leaders and managers across the business.
What you'll be doing:
- Taking ownership of the HR function and developing a people strategy aligned with the company's growth plans.
- Acting as a trusted HR adviser to managers and senior leadership, providing practical advice across a broad range of people matters.
- Managing ER cases including disciplinaries, grievances, absence, performance and capability issues.
- Leading the full recruitment process from identifying requirements through to onboarding, working closely with managers to attract and appoint the right people.
- Developing and embedding effective onboarding, probation and performance management processes.
- Supporting managers with objective setting, performance reviews, development plans and difficult performance conversations.
- Creating and maintaining a structured training and development framework, including identifying skills gaps and supporting career progression.
- Reviewing and developing HR policies and procedures, ensuring they remain compliant and fit for purpose.
- Driving employee engagement and helping to build a positive, high-performing company culture.
- Supporting salary reviews, benefits and reward initiatives in partnership with senior management and Finance.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring HR data is managed appropriately and in line with GDPR.
- Taking ownership of the company's office-based Health & Safety framework and coordinating relevant training, assessments and procedures.
- Producing HR reports and analysing key people metrics including recruitment, retention, absence, performance, engagement and training.
- Developing workforce planning, succession planning and career pathways as the business continues to grow.
What you'll bring:
- Previous experience in a HR Manager is essential ideally within a growing SME environment.
- Strong generalist HR experience across employee relations, recruitment, performance management and HR policy.
- A good understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Experience of developing and improving HR processes rather than simply administering them.
- Confidence advising and coaching managers at all levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the business.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload independently.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach with the confidence to challenge and influence when required.
- CIPD Level 5 qualified or equivalent is desirable.
You'll also benefit from:
- 24 days annual leave PLUS an additional 5 days off over Christmas.
- Vitality private health insurance.
- The opportunity to take genuine ownership of the HR function.
- The chance to shape HR strategy and processes within a growing organisation.
- A varied and influential role working closely with senior leadership.
- The opportunity to develop the people function and make a tangible difference to the wider business.
