Holiday Pay Entitlement

As part of your holiday allowance, you are entitled to 28 days of paid holiday in a calendar year.

The holiday year commences from 1st April and ends on 31st March the following year.

All holidays are accrued for each 37.5-hour week; if you work less than 37.5 hours, your holiday entitlement will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Holiday pay calculation:

Payment is calculated by taking an average daily rate of your last 12 weeks worked or the number of weeks worked if it is less than 12. The daily holiday rate is calculated as total gross earnings, excluding any holiday pay, during the last 12 weeks divided by 52 weeks, then multiplied by the yearly 5.6 / 6.6 holiday entitlement this equals your weekly accrued entitlement. Then divide by 5 for your daily holiday rate. If you have not worked for 12 weeks then the calculation is adjusted accordingly to reflect this.

Terms of Booking Paid Holiday:

You can only take accrued holiday as paid holiday.

You cannot pre-book paid holiday if you have not accrued it.

As part of our policy, it is your responsibility to claim your holiday, this will not be paid automatically.

 

How to claim holiday pay:

To claim your holiday pay, please follow the instructions below:

Authorise your holiday with your Line Manager.

Notify Harper Recruitment Payroll team via email to request payment to payroll@harperhr.co.uk – for paid holiday requests, please do not include your working hours.

For statutory Bank Holidays requests, please follow the same instructions above.

Holidays must be taken during the holiday year (i.e., between the beginning of April and the end of March). Unfortunately, the legislation does not allow us to carry days forward or to pay you cash in lieu. Please ensure you take your days as they will be lost.
