Harper Recruitment Group is working in partnership with a successful Finance business based in Kegworth. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Underwriter to join their team, where you will be responsible for and play a key part in their success.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct initial underwriting to gain a clear understanding of each case and respond to initial enquiries within four hours.
- Assess all loan applications accurately, ensuring the proposed lending is appropriate, suitable, and fit for purpose.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including brokers, solicitors, and surveyors.
- Issue Agreement in Principle (AIP) terms to borrowers and brokers in accordance with lending criteria.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records across all internal systems
- Ensure all enquiries are handled promptly and within agreed service levels
- Provide regular updates to brokers and borrowers throughout the application process through to completion
- Resolve issues efficiently, ensuring all parties understand the agreed solution
- Collaborate with colleagues by discussing lending criteria and seeking second opinions where appropriate
- Arrange and review borrower and vendor identification checks to ensure compliance with lending criteria
- Work closely with the Business Development Managers (BDMs) and brokers to assess and support lending proposals from a credit risk perspective
- Complete all required checklists, including full application, identification, and case sign-off, using the Salesforce system.
- Prepare and submit referral cases for Director approval where required
- Manage a pipeline of cases effectively within a fast-paced lending environment
- Prepare proposals for borrowers experiencing exit difficulties for review with the Head of Operations and Managing Director
- Manage live loans throughout their lifecycle, from completion through to redemption
What we’re looking for:
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Experience in the specialist lending sector for minimum two years.
- Communicating via different portals
- Flexible within a team culture
- Well organised and capable of prioritising
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- To be familiar with KYC/AML financial crime regulation
- Knowledge of the conveyancing and valuation processes
- Ability to manage own workload embracing the need to adopt flexible working hours when necessary
