Harper Recruitment Group are supporting a public and private sector partnership seeking an experienced senior leader to drive strategic direction, business engagement and inward investment. The organisation delivers place marketing, economic development and stakeholder engagement activity to promote the area as a destination to invest, work, live and visit.
The partnership is supported by public funding, commercial activity and contributions from the local business community. Senior stakeholders play a key role in shaping priorities, championing economic growth and supporting long-term development.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring strategic vision, political awareness and strong influencing capability. The successful candidate will lead the partnership through a period of opportunity, strengthen business networks, deliver high-quality place marketing campaigns and ensure consistent representation of the area’s identity.
You will set organisational direction, oversee governance and performance, lead the operational team and act as a senior ambassador for investment, regeneration and economic opportunity.
Role Involvement
- Strategic leadership of place promotion, stakeholder engagement and inward investment.
- Delivering strategy, budgets, KPIs and performance outcomes.
- Building senior relationships across public, private and voluntary sectors.
- Overseeing brand implementation and consistent messaging.
- Leading and developing the operational team.
- Directing high-impact marketing and engagement campaigns.
- Providing evidence-based reporting to governance groups.
- Facilitating Board and advisory meetings.
- Managing external funding, compliance and audit readiness.
- Acting as a senior representative for inward investment enquiries.
Skills and Experience Required
- Knowledge of inward investment, place marketing and economic development.
- Understanding of public sector policy, regeneration and economic growth.
- Experience supporting senior?level governance and Board reporting.
- Strong background in strategic marketing, communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders across multiple sectors.
- Leadership experience with high?performing teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong project and budget management capability.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel.
- Suitable for senior leaders with strong community insight and networks, including charity CEOs, community leaders, social enterprise founders, cultural organisation directors, education leaders or trustees.
