We’re partnering with an ambitious UK business services provider to recruit an experienced and commercially minded Operations Director. With significant growth ahead, this role offers the opportunity to build scalable operations, strengthen customer delivery, and play a key role in the senior leadership team.

You’ll take executive responsibility for operational performance, inheriting an established team while developing the systems, processes and structure needed for continued expansion. This is a role for someone who enjoys building organisations, not simply maintaining them. 

What you’ll be doing

• Setting clear objectives, strengthening management structures and ensuring high performance across all operational functions.
• Ensuring excellent communication, proactive customer contact, retention strategies and strong service delivery.
• Overseeing supplier performance, KPIs, service completion, issue resolution and customer satisfaction.
• Implementing structured mobilisation processes for new clients and major contract wins.
• Building a resilient supplier network, managing performance, conducting due diligence and supporting procurement.
• Understanding revenue, margin, productivity and customer profitability to support sustainable growth.
• Improving workflow, reducing manual admin, enhancing data quality and identifying automation opportunities.
• Developing meaningful KPIs, dashboards and management information.
• Leading process mapping, audits, controls and continual improvement.
• Overseeing H&S, environmental compliance, contractor management and operational governance.
• Challenging processes, reducing errors, improving productivity and preventing issues before they arise.
• Organisational design, workforce planning, coaching, succession planning and building future leaders.
• Assessing structure, capacity, technology and risks, then implementing plans to support growth.

What you’ll bring

• Senior operational leadership experience within a growing or changing organisation.
• Experience leading multi?function operational teams and managing managers.
• Strong understanding of customer service, Account Management and supplier/subcontractor management.
• Experience working in waste or environmental services is desirable. 
• Proven experience developing KPIs, improving processes and driving performance.
• Strong commercial awareness, P&L, margin, productivity and customer profitability.
• Confidence presenting operational performance at senior leadership or Board level.
• Experience in multi?site, outsourced or complex B2B service environments is highly desirable.
• ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 implementation experience is a strong advantage.
